Literature and much more Course modules are delivered by specialist engineers well qualified and widely experienced in industrial acoustics, noise control, instrumentation, and noise assessment. There will also be contributions from guest speakers from authorities such as Worksafe WA, WorkCover WA, DoCEP's Resources Safety Division and NOPSA. In addition to seminars, there will be opportunity for hands-on practical work, including the use of noise instrumentation and measurement techniques. The course satisfies the training requirements for approved Noise Officers under the Mines Safety and Inspection Regulations 1995.
Course Structure
The Noise Officer Course is a five-day full time course
from Monday to Friday. Each day is divided into
seminars, practical workshops, and question and answer
sessions. Progress is assessed by a written test, and a
noise survey report to be submitted following
completion of the course.
The Refresher Course, for Noise Officers whose
accreditation is due for renewal and who meet the
requirements for competency as specified by DoCEP
Resources Safety Division, runs on Wednesday and
Thursday of the 5-day course, when delegates can reacquaint
themselves with instrumentation use, learn
about current legislation, and refresh their noise survey
techniques. An examination and post-course noise
survey are also to be completed.
Pre-reading material for both courses will be sent to
applicants, along with venue details, on receipt of
payment.
