Ambient Noise Indicators

Noise in the work-place as well as in the community can be unpleasant and potentially hazardous to the health, welfare and comfort of those affected. A simple and inexpensive solution is to display the ambient noise level using a Sound-Ear. A discreet yet effective tool to indicate the level of noise being experienced. Applications include:

  • Schools - ensure class-rooms do not become disruptively loud
  • Libraries - protect patrons from the distraction of noisy conversation
  • Nursing homes - encourage a peaceful and relaxing environment
  • Offices & Work-places - assist in managing occupational noise issues (see also Occupational Noise & Vibration)

The SoundEar range is specially designed to:

  • Alert - in situations where the noise level can become uncomfortable, for example more than 60dB in offices
  • Educate - adults as well as children, to keep the noise level down e.g. in schools and hospital wards
  • Warn - in situations where the the noise level can become detrimental, for example more than 85dB in workplaces

SoundEar 2000

SoundEar 2000 presents a hard-to-miss alarm signal (red ear and the word WARNING), as soon as the noise limit is exceeded. The noise limit can be set to one of 16 settings between 40 and 115 dB(A) by turning a knob on the back of the device.

SoundEar PRO

SoundEar PRO is a noise measuring system consisting of up to 10 independent sound level meters that send wireless data to a computer, thereby enabling you to measure and monitor 10 different places within the company at one time. A complete record of this data is stored for up to 3 months, so it is possible to go back and look up the noise level in a particular place at a particular time. Furthermore, each individual measuring device has a wireless connection to a display that shows a warning as soon as the noise level is too high.
